Now that we know LEGO will be releasing the Transformers Optimus Prime (10302), this opens up the possibility for Hasbro to continue the partnership with more characters. We can only speculate which characters we might see in LEGO form, but there’s no guarantee that LEGO will make any more.
The obvious choice would be Optimus Prime’s nemesis who is Megatron. It will be difficult for LEGO to make Megatron because his alternate form is a gun and even the G2 version is the tank, which LEGO will probably never make. If there is a Megatron, the most likely alternate form would be the Tyrannosaurus Rex from Beast Wars or a jet.
The next possible character for a LEGO Transformers set is Bumblebee. This is a proportioned Volkswagen Beetle and we know LEGO loves making Volkswagen vehicles.
Starscream is also one of the most popular Transformers characters. Its alternate form is a jet and from a gameplay standpoint, jets are cool, especially with kids.
One of my favorite Transformers is Grimlock, the leader of the Dinobots. He’s also a Tyrannosaurus Rex, which could conflict with Megatron if he were to become a dinosaur.
Other more secondary characters that would make good LEGO sets include Jetfire, Soundwave, Shockwave, Rodimus Prime (Hot Rod), and if a UCS-style set were to come out, I name Unicron.
Again, this is only my speculation on which characters might be the next LEGO Transformers set if LEGO were to make more and in no way confirms that LEGO will be making more. Maybe Optimus Prime is just a one-off set, but I’m holding out hope. What do you think of this subject? Let us know in the comments.
